Apple to launch the 128GB ipad.. Now you've got a perfect val gift!

Still waiting for a 128GB iPad? One could come sooner than you think. According to 9to5Mac, Cupertino is preparing to add a new SKU to its fourth-generation tablet line up, slotting next to the existing 16GB, 32GB and 64GB configurations as a premium model. A source at a well known US retailer shared the devices' SKU information with the outlet, marked up with internal Apple terminology that described both WiFi-only and cellular-capable slates in black and white facades. The devices' description column features a lone adjective, too: ultimate.
9to5Mac couldn't confirm that the description meant a 128GB model was inbound, but the assumption seems reasonable enough -- developers are finding references to 128GB iOS devices in iOS 6.1 beta code, and icons for the size were found in iTunes 11. Moreover, "good," "better" and "best" have all been used to describe different iPad configurations in the past -- ultimate seems like the next logical step. Strong evidence, to be sure, but we'll hedge our bets until we see something official. Read on to see the leaked SKU information for yourself.engadget.

Will FIFA ever introduce goal-line technology?

We don't know yet but information from the FIFA's official website - www.fifa.com shows calls to introduce goal-line technology (GLT) have grown louder in recent seasons following a number of high-profile incidents, most notably the non-awarding of a goal after Frank Lampard’s shot crossed the line in the match between England and Germany at the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in Bloemfontein. This incident in particular triggered the IFAB to reconsider the introduction of goal-line technology in the Laws of the Game, a decision that was formalised at the IFAB’s Annual Business Meeting in October 2010.
The objective of goal-line technology is not to replace the role of the officials, but rather to support them in their decision-making. The technology must provide a clear indication as to whether the ball has fully crossed the line, and this information serves the referee in taking his final decision.
The test criteria for goal-line technology systems are based on the following requirements set by the IFAB:
  • The goal-line technology applies solely to the goal line and only to determine whether a goal has been scored or not;
  • The GLT system must be accurate;
  • The indication of whether a goal has been scored must be immediate and automatically confirmed within one second;
  • The indication of whether a goal has been scored will be communicated only to the match officials (via the referee’s watch, by vibration and visual signal).                                                                              So do you think FIFA is right?

Twitter announces Vine!

The mobile service will allow users to create and post six-second looped videos.

Twitter has announced a new mobile video sharing service, called Vine' designed to allow users to connect through short video clips in a fashion akin to tweeting (140 characters limit). In keeping with the micro-blogging site's 140-character limit, Vine is built around a similar style of abbreviation: videos that users post can only be six seconds long, and are played back on a continuous loop. Officials at Vine and Twitter are betting that the brevity of the videos will increase users' video-making creativity.
"We believe that constraint inspires creativity, whether it's through a 140-character Tweet or a six-second video," said Dom Hoffman, Vine's co-founder and general manager , in a blog. So there's you go, you can now tweet your piece in videos. PCadvisor.

Facebook adds free calling feature on iPhones...

Users can now make calls to each other via the Facebook Messenger app anywhere they have a wi-fi or a cellular-data connection.
The feature could be a boon for heavy talkers as they would avoid carrier call charges.
Facebook said it was working on adding the feature to its Messenger app for Android and BlackBerry users.Within the app, all a person needs to do is open a conversation with a partner, tap the “i” icon in the upper right hand corner and select “Free Call”.
The calls, however, can only be made to another user who has Messenger installed on their iPhone. Users can neither call a Facebook friend who is logged in through the website or call a landline.
The latest mobile-to-mobile development was independent of the free video-calling software Skype, which was already integrated into Facebook’s website, a spokesman said. The Messenger app is limited to voice calling.
The official said Facebook was expected to roll out the feature in its Messenger app for other operating systems and expand it overseas. On Tuesday last week, Facebook unveiled a smart search engine – called Graph Search – that allows users to make “natural” searches of content shared by their friends. Well... you will have to wait a little longer for it if you are not in the US at the moment.bbc

ATTENTION:Microsoft has released an emergency patch for the IE

Microsoft has released an emergency patch to fix security issues on Internet Explorer. The vulnerability, which is present in IE 6, 7 and 8, is a memory corruption issue. It can be exploited by an attacker via a drive-by download, a term for loading a website with attack code that delivers malware to a victim's computer if the person merely visits the website. We suggest you download the latest patch and others from www.microsoft.com or update your Internet Explorer.

Oracle has released an emergency Java fix to stop remote web hackers

Oracle released an emergency software update today to fix a security vulnerability in its Java software that could allow attackers to break into computers.
The update, which is available on Oracle's Web site, fixes a critical vulnerability in Oracle's Java 7 that could allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code. The attack can be induced if someone visits a Web site that's been set up with malicious code to take advantage of the hole.
Oracle said the update modifies the way Java interacts with Web applications.
"The default security level for Java applets and web start applications has been increased from 'medium' to 'high," Oracle said in an advisory today. "This affects the conditions under which unsigned (sandboxed) Java web applications can run. Previously, as long as you had the latest secure Java release installed applets and web start applications would continue to run as always. With the 'high' setting the user is always warned before any unsigned application is run to prevent silent exploitation."
The vulnerability was being exploited by a zero-day Trojan horse called Mal/JavaJar-B, which was already identified as attacking Windows, Linux and Unix systems and being distributed in exploit kits "Blackhole" and "NuclearPack," making it far more convenient to attackers.cnet

The new Microsoft Surface Pro could make your iPad a smuck!

... yeahhhh that's right! and before you put up your Apple defense, see what we think about the specifications of the device.
The Microsoft Surface Pro, alongside last year's Windows RT Microsoft Surface, are Microsoft's self-made Windows 8 tablets, designed to attempt to reinvent computing and provide hero products for Windows 8. The Surface Pro was supposed to launch within 90 days of the Surface, which came out on October 26 2012.The original Surface tablet received mixed reviews, largely because of its Windows RT operating system. The Surface Pro is the more significant product, because it makes no computing compromises: it's the dream of a tablet as your PC, while the original Surface felt more like an iPad competitor.
The Surface Pro connects to monitors and outputs at resolutions beyond 1080p, and you can add Bluetooth and USB 3 peripherals like mice, keyboards, and external hard drives.

The 1080p IPS 10.6-inch display is one of the best I've ever seen on a small Windows computer. Even better, capacitive multitouch felt buttery-smooth. That's the magic that made the iPhone and iPad so fun to use, and the Surface Pro, in painting programs and the singularity of your operating system platforms (you can now move work around your PCs, tablet and smartphones with ease)which makes the Surface pro a tough challenger. with input from cnet.

It's almost here.. D Blackberry 10.

Yeah.... we just heard from the grapevine that RIM plans to launch the Blackberry 10 in New york January 30th 2013. We can't say for sure when you will get here in Nigeria but we will keep you posted and it's might be worth the wait.:)

Dream Job 2013??? We've got afew ideas that might help!

Yeahh... whether you are a 'greenhorn' or interested in a positive career move, we've got a few ideas that might get you to the door.
1.) Build a job winning CV. Most people don't understand how important is the value of a well-developed CV and though we might sound like a 'broken record' but you likely won't attract a good employer with an average CV. please read the earlier articles on how to go about improving your CV.
2.) Write a good Cover note. Alright you might find that ridiculous but  some recruiters won't bother about your CV once they read your below par cover note. So improve on it. We suggest a cover note per application so it is really 'targeted rather just 'copy & paste'
3.) Increase your visibility. You've heard it everywhere now, the world is a global village running on the internet (that's my cue :)). So take advantage of it. Sign up and register to job boards and website as many as possible. See our earlier post for some helpful submission.
4.) Network more!... What your need most times is about ten people at most away from you. So you need to attend seminars, conferences and build opportunities for networking. You will be amazed how much you can achieve with a friendly smile and an 'hello'.
5.) The power of positive affirmation. Talk to yourself daily. We encourage you to make positive statement in the morning and night about your career and future. You didn't achieve much with the negative speaking anyway so why not try something different especially if it's based on faith.

Happy job hunting!!!

Flexible smartphones are here and we mean flexible!!!

Samsung Display -- a recent spinoff from the Korean giant -- has let it be known that it'll demo a 5.5-inch flexible 720p display at this year's tech mecca. Keep this in mind, though: what we'll see is merely a component that could one day find its way into a smartphone, rather than a finished product that's meant for consumers. Samsung Display also wants to ground your expectations that while its screens bend without breaking, they're not designed to roll up. Nonetheless, we're looking forward to getting our grubby mitts all over 'em as we dream of what might be.
Samsung has shown off its new flexible display technology for smartphones at CES 2013 called Youm.
The Korean firm used its CES keynote in Las Vegas to introduce the Youm OLED display technology which will be used in smartphones. Products which use the technology will be bendable, foldable and rollable – as shown by Stephen Woo, president of Samsung and Brian Berkeley, senior vice president of Samsung Display, according to CNET. Samsung said the super thin form factor is made from plastic rather than glass and is designed to provide better contrast and colours. The screen’s flexible nature will make it durable and virtually unbreakable.PC Advisor.Engadget.

Nokia is happy :) cos everyone is buying the Lumia

I love to say ' we told you so... In the process of drawing up its quarterly results, Nokia has uncovered some good news to report. The manufacturer says its Lumia portfolio "delivered better than expected results" in Q4, selling 4.4 million units compared to just 2.9 million in Q3. The Asha series also did well, with 9.3 million units shifted. In the same breath, however, the company's accountants warn that Q1 of this year may not be so glowing, due to "seasonality and the competitive environment." All financial results are preliminary at this point -- we'll learn more more when the final report arrives in a couple of weeks.engadget.

Window 8 Upgrade is going up by Jan 31st. We suggest you hurry now!

Microsoft's Windows 8 Pro upgrade discount will expire in about three weeks, at which point the company will triple or even quintuple the current price of the new operating system, according to several online retailers. On Friday, Microsoft reminded customers that a different upgrade deal will expire Jan. 31 -- one that lets purchasers of new Windows 7 PCs acquire Windows 8 Pro for $14.99 -- but made no mention of the same deadline for an upgrade from Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 on older PCs. That discount, also set to end Jan. 31, prices a download upgrade to Windows 8 Pro at $39.99, or $69.99 for a DVD.
Microsoft announced both deals in mid-2012, and began selling the upgrades in October when Windows 8 debuted in retail. According to online retailers, including Amazon, Newegg and TigerDirect, the DVD-based Windows 8 Pro upgrade carries a suggested list price of $199.99, or nearly triple the now-discounted price of $69.99.Although Microsoft has repeatedly declined to comment on post-January pricing plans for Windows 8 Pro, its past pricing practices sync with the $199.99 list price: An upgrade to Windows 7 Professional, analogous to Windows 8 Pro, has always been priced at $199.99. Microsoft's e-store currently lists it at that price.
It's unknown whether Microsoft will continue to sell Windows 8 Pro as a download after the discount expires, and if it does, at what cost. If the price of a download is identical to the boxed copy -- Microsoft has priced downloads and DVDs identically in the past -- then the OS price will jump five-fold on Feb. 1. So advise you go ahead and do your upgrade today!... Culled from PCadvisor.

A new season of launch as HP and LG launches Ultra HD TVs, Nvidia plans cloud gaming..‏

It's pretty clear HP is all about monitors at this year's CES -- in fact, that's pretty much all it announced, with the exception of a couple laptops. All told, we've detailed 10 models here, and that's not even counting that USB-powered one we wrote up in a separate post. You can find all the gory details after the break, because we're assuming you don't want Engadget's home page taken up by paragraphs on resolution, contrast ratio and brightness ratings. (Or do you?) For those of you who just plan on skimming, all you really need to know is that the displays range in size from 20 to 27 inches, and cost anywhere from $130 to $500. And some of them, like the one pictured above, are damn gorgeous. Meet us past the break where we'll break down all the particulars.

The NVIDIA Grid, a card used for cloud computing across PCs, smart TVs, and smartphones. CEO and founder Jen-Hsun Huang detailed the new card on-stage, which you can see above in a rack of 20 grid servers. Huang says the rack pushes out roughly 240 NVIDIA GPUs worth of power, or about 200 teraflops -- equivalent to approximately 700 Xbox 360s. The Grid was given a tease earlier this year; the card will assist in pushing serious horsepower to the cloud, so that gaming over the air, across multiple devices becomes a less complicated reality.
During an on-stage demonstration, NVIDIA showed Frozenbyte's Trine running on various devices, all powered by the Grid system. Beyond just looking great, it carried over seamlessly between multiple devices. Huang also detailed NVIDIA's first partners for Grid: Agawi, Cloudunion, Cyber Cloud, G-cluster, Playcast, and Ubitus. Apparently biggies like OnLive and Gaikai are already all set?.

We found some new year resolutions you might wanna add..

Actually, according to the United States Government, these are the most popular by searches on the internet.
